Before you read this understand that sometimes you get what you pay for.

That being said these strategies can work really well, and cost you nothing.

MYSPACE.COM A place for friends to meet.

Myspace is an extremely popular social networking web-site, where you can join and create a profile for free. Make sure to take your time and make it as professional as possible.  I say this because a lot of companies nowadays are looking up potential employees on social networking sites as part of the vetting process. Do not post anything on Myspace that you would not want your boss or coworkers to see.  (i.e. no lingere or underwear pics, no alcohol related photos)

You should then go about finding your current friends online, usually typing a few e-mail addresses into the search by e-mail function accomplishes this.  Send friend requests out to them and a little message letting them know you are on now.  The key to a decent profile is having a decent amount of friends say 20 to 100 before you start hitting up strangers.

Now that you should have a profile and some friends, it’s time to browse other users who have similar interests and are looking for dating or relationships.  Send a friend request with a note about something you read in the profile or something you see in the picture or headline to peak interest and get them to accept you as a friend. 

The key from here on in is to actually become online friends with e-mails and funny comments going back and forth. This is just like any other dating site in that regards, peak some interest and take it slow.  If you go too fast you will generally have poor results as you really are not into getting to know someone.

It is a numbers game, and some profiles are just bombarded with friend requests so don’t get discouraged if the first few decline.

CRAIGSLIST.ORG- Free online classifieds.

The immense popularity of this site is amazing because it is really free.  Go to your local personals on this site and check out some of the posts. You will probably be surprised with what you find. 

If you do not want to do a ton of work create your own post.

Make sure it has a good title or subject that conveys who you are.

Example: Sleepless in Atlanta Seeks Mr./Ms. Right

Make sure you give a very solid description of yourself and what you are looking to find. It is almost always a good idea to not post a photo, and put in the ad somewhere your photo gets mine or something to that effect. 

Craigslist Advice Tip #1

Your ad lasts for awhile but after 15 days or so you should un-post it and create a new post if you have not gotten any results also mix it up a little bit or be more specific.
